Kirriemuir based community group DD8 Music is working on a project to honour one of the town’s most famous sons, the late front man of world's greatest rock group AC/DC, Ronald Belford Scott. DD8 Music plan to erect a bronze life size memorial statue of Bon in his childhood home. Bon is one of the most legendary rock singers of all time, and we think he deserves a fitting memorial in his beloved Scotland.

We have commissioned Ayrshire based sculptor John McKenna to design and sculpt the memorial statue of Bon. John is a sensational artist and AC/DC fan to boot, he said “it’s a great honour, Bon Scott was an icon of my teenage years”. Some of John’s other works include Jock Stein outside Celtic park and the Auchengeich miner. John’s portfolio can be seen at

DD8 Music are reaching out to the global AC/DC fan base to help fund the project. They want it to be funded by the fans for the fans. They are asking for fans around the world to join together and pledge to help make the statue a reality. We need a total of £45,000 to make the statue happen. So far we have raised over half the total amount. This has allowed John to sculpt the clay mould of the statue (which you can see below). We now need to raise the final amount to cast the statue and install it in Kirriemuir.
